Quizzly Quizzes

Friday started early at 6am. I got up and had myself some H2O and green tea while I got to studying for my 9am O.Chem quiz. Then I made some coffee and tried to cram as many alkene reactions into my almond shaped head as I could.

On the drive to school I ate my breakfast, some overnight oats!

1/4c oats & almond milk. 1 spoon plain greek yogurt, dash of vanilla, barney butter, crofters and 4 chopped strawberries.

This is how I drive to school. Mutli-tasking, it’s a special skill.

After my 2 quizzes (one went well, the other? Not so much) I had to finish a banana oil synthesis distillation and calculations. It took a lot longer than I thought and I didn’t get out of class until after 12. Luckily I packed some trail mix snackage for the drive to the gym.

6 almonds, 7 cashews, tbsp craisins and chocolate chips.

Once at the gym I did a 6.5mi run, 10 minutes on the bike and 15 minutes of legs & shoulders on the machines. Then I walked over to Victorias Secret to pick up my free panties. I love that they keep sending me these! It’s the only way this broke college student gets new underwear. After picking up my free goodie, I stopped at a 7-11 to buy two lotto tickets for the big drawing. Obviously I didn’t win, but I got 1 number right and was one away from the mega!

I arrived home around 3 or so and threw together a quick lunch.

grapes, marys gone crackers & TJs goat cheese medallion with some ice H2O.

Gotta have a little bit of sweetness…

Then I took the pup for a walk and hopped in the shower. Ran some errands and picked up these on the way to a friends going away party.

Oh no I DIDN’T! I rarely buy fast food but I had to try the new sweet potato tater tots from sonic. So I snagged these and headed over only to discover this upon my arrival….

THEY WERE REGULAR TOTS! I was SO disappointed! I was even more bummed because they didn’t give me a receipt and kept my penny in change without even offering me it back for my change. Now I know it’s a penny, and of course I was going to say keep it but you’re supposed to give me my change; otherwise that’s stealing. Plus, no receipt?! So I called the restaurant and told them my story very nicely and they couldn’t have handled it better. I told Joe, the manager what happened and he offered two solutions. I chose option A. He put my name on a list and I can come by anytime and receive a large sweet potato tater tot on the house. I kind of feel silly, but hey! I wan’t to try them!

Said goodbye to a friend as she ventures out into uncharted territory on a new adventure while mingling with some friendly people. One of them offered me one of these! They’re Ginger Altoids! So good and very very strong. Love them! Now I have to hunt some down.

Once I got home a polished off 3/4 of this leftover chicken burrito brought home by my mom the other night. Instead of sour cream I used my plain greek yogurt I picked up. Such a good substitution!

Then hung out for a while, ate half of a homemade chocolate chip cookie that was leftover from the other night and hit the sack in prep for an early saturday morning.

Ideal Oatmeal

After staying the night and getting up really early this morning, my calves are so SO SO sore from yesterdays run. I originally wanted to hit the gym on the way home and beat the crowd, but decided it would be best to take this as a rest day.

Stopped at Safeway on the way home for some greek yogurt but they did not have my brand so I made my way to the magazine isle to parooze. In doing so apparently I set my keys down and lost them! After having a 5 min. freakout at 730am in an empty Safeway, I went to the register and they had them! Very thankful for the lady in the magazine isle who bought the Martha magazine for turning them in.

Got home and went for a 3 mile reading walk on a gorgeous and warm (so weird) February morning.

Back at home I did some online business and finished up my homework. Did a bit of O.Chem reading and then decided to make breakfast.

After having some green tea I made oatmeal so I could finish my fruit before it spoiled. I finally made them really well! I hardly EVER make warm oatmeal because I prefer overnight oats and usually let the oatmeal get to dry. Not today! I stopped cooking at just the right consistency and added some Barney Butter and Crofters Jam and strawbs. Perfecto!

1/4c oats,almond milk, h2o, 1tbsp almond butter & crofters jam, 2 strawberries.

Complete with some H2O and then I made a cup of french pressed coffee with 2tsp sugar.

I’m hoping my energy picks up today as I’m still feeling that my face got ran over by a truck. Off to school soon, hopefully a walk and yoga to follow!

Doggy-Style

All work and no play, make Casey a dull girl. So what did I do Wednesday? I worked reeeeaaalllyyy hard so I could play hard later. Early morning I munched about half of my overnight oats to give me some energy to hit the gym.

Then hit the gym for a solid 6.5 miles followed by a few weight machines. Then headed over to a local regional park to run with TR and this monster…

Don’t let that doggy-smile fool you, she’s a demon I tell ya.

Together we covered about 3 more miles to bring that day’s total to 9, leaving me tired and ready to finish off breakfast.

Recently I got my hair cut and colored after not having anything done to it, for a LONG time. I asked for bangs, which look super cute…except after taking off a running hat. Came home for some coffee and then off to the driving range! I haven’t been to the driving range in at least 10 years, so it was exciting to try something new.

After a round of 100 or so balls we paroozed the local mall to fuel inspiration for our Vegas trip attire. After killing some time we made our way to the destination I have been waiting to go to for months- Doggy Style. A somewhat local hotdog shop with a twist. They have about 7 or so different types of dogs with interesting toppings and meats, not to mention a clever name.

He ordered a doggyzilla. It literally tasted like a sushi roll, but hotdog if that made sense. I only tasted the toppings because the meat was beef, but from what I got, it was delicious.

Toppings included asian slaw, seaweed, wasabi mayo and teriyaki sauce atop a bratwurst.

I ordered the Kimchi Pyro which I got with a chicken apple sausage ( only non-beef option). Since it was our first time, they let me substitute the meat option free of charge since it usually costs a dollar! I have been craving kimchi SO HARD that I had to have it. It came with cucumbers, kimchi and a spicy sauce on top. The spice brought some heat, but nothing the average bear couldn’t handle with some sips of H20.  The bun was large and wheaty, and had  just the right amount of toasted crunch.

Both dogs we had were scrumptious and immediately devoured. Only downfall = no leftovers!

There are a few more style of hotdogs that I really want to try and can’t wait to go back. More Hotdogs!!!!

Can’t stop Movin’

I really need to stop staying up so late! I went to sleep at 3am, which is somewhat typical now. And really not good for me. I know what I need to do, but its just hard to get there sometimes. I stay up binge eating all night on cookies and leftovers, which I really need to stop doing. I’ve gained 5lbs in 4 months and had developed what looks like a mini beer gut, but I barely drink beer! But I digress, with the new year starting, a new haircut, and possibly new manfriend(?); I’m ready to take on the challenge of myself, and stop putting up a front of who I am to the world. I’m tired of being a fraud and not being an actual representation of myself. These habits do not bind me and they do not make, therefore they can be broken and a balanced lifestyle CAN and WILL be achieved.

Enough of that for now, today was a really nice Sunday! Woke up at a somewhat respectable hour (8am) and hit a hot yoga class at 9am. It was packed! The teacher is new to me, but I thoroughly enjoyed her class and especially her musical choices.

Then I headed immediately home while sippin’ some H2O to devour my overnight oats.

1/4 C oats, NF Vanilla Yogurt & Almond Milk. Drop of Vanilla extract and splash of H2O. Added 12 Blackberries, 2tsp raspberry jam & crunchy barney butter.

Pared it with a cup and a half of my favorite coffee while reading some online news and picking up my room before my big run at 1. I met with my ex-manfriend, whom we remain friends as he is very important with my life and do not feel the need to divulge details of the matter- just know things are ok and good, and we took off along the bay for about a 6 or some mile run. A run with some serious hills! It was nice to catch up, the view was incredible and we had a good time chatting, he might even become a fitness model!

After our run we visited and he took of to do his model thing and I took off home for lunch. I was starving. I had some leftover scrambled eggs with spinach and green onion, a cutie, and 4 marys crackers with whatever I could scrape out of the hummus jar.

I bought this tub this week, I think I’m going to turn into a garbanzo bean.

Then I met one of my closest friends for a walk around 4. We usually do a 3 mile loop but the sun was out and it was a gorgeous day so she suggested we keep going. So we did… 6.6 miles later we finally make it back! We were starving. So I rushed home got a shower and made a sandwich thin pizza.

sandwich thin with prego sauce spinach and probably too much shredded cheese.

Also I had a cup of tea and some more water. And when I arrived back home was ravenous so I had 2 pieces of naan with some of the moms homemade hummus to survive til dinner. Never being one to pass up booze or sweets I am having a little bit of red wine and some chocolate morsals with 2 cinnamon M&Ms, yes, I said CINNAMON M&Ms! (fucking incredible).

Not sure what the rest of the night has in store, but all I know is I’m TIRED and can’t wait til tomorrow! I’m sure some more chocolate chips will make its way into this mouth before the night ends.

A New Leaf

Well well well, look who we have here crawling back to the blog-o-sphere. I have been wanting to re-start this thing for quite some time now, but have been seriously lacking motivation in all aspects of my life lately. Be lucky I got out of bed this morning. Things have changed over the year, including me picking up some not so great eating habits. A whole bag of chocolate chips and a whole breast of fried chicken is not what I used to deem healthy.

So I am back. To get on track. To make a change. To drop those pesky few pounds I put on and gain my confidence and love of life back. I never stopped reading all my favorite blogs, but have been more or a less a creeper reader on my google reader.

Here’s to starting the day off right!

Some coffee(not pictured) H2O in my favorite jar and some overnight oats.

-1/4 C- TJs gluten free oats & NF Vanilla yogurt + some water.

-1tsp raspberry jam and melted barney butter

-11 blackberries

Workout this morning was an hour walk on the treadmill because it was so cold this morning. Alternating incline while reading the rest of my Fitness magazine followed by 10 minutes on the spin bike. I gained inspiration from a friend of mine who did a spin class and have since been on the bike the past two days. They did a whole class and I did ten minutes and was exhausted!

Gotta jet to school!

Let the documentation and commenting commence!

Wordless Roundup

Some missing weekly eats

Bountiful Berry Oats

The Laughing Cow, Marys Gone Crackers, Champagne Grapes!

NF Vanilla yog, Kashi Heart 2 Heart cinnamon and berry mess.

OIAJ – isn’t it so cute! It’s a mini jar!

Naturally with some fresh handpicked by yours truly blackberries.

Snack with some grapes, cracker, laughing cow and tiny piece of chicken.

Don’t worry, I eat other stuff too 🙂

I’m Havin’ Pizza Tonight, Pizza Tonight

Full week of work this week. But after work got in a good 5 miles plus a yoga class!

Yesterdays dinner was so good. Grilled pizza on a pita! Roasted veggies (onion, zuchs, peps, mushrooms) with pasta sauce, pesto sauce, spinach and mozarella, ella ella, eh eh eh …

Threw that baby on the grill. My first time EVER using a grill by myself! Big girl status, with a pizza paddle.

Ooey gooey ready to eat.

Just look at that perfection on the crust. Cut into 1/4ths and then devoured.

Then this morning I had the usual oats, with of course some of my fresh blackberries and a tiny bit of nutzzo!

Little bit of slunch.

Only had a few almonds and cashews and about 10 chippies.

Then when I arrived home I had a package on my bed, Alliebars! I honestly think these are one of the best things I’ve ever snacked on. Now I know why she’s always eatin’ them, because they’re sooo good. I couldn’t wait until tomorrow so I had a nibble of a corner. Thanks Allie!

Ain’t No Tuition for havin’ No Ambition

As of late, I’m totally lacking motivation to do pretty much anything. I’m not eating well and just feel crummy about myself. I can feel my midsection getting soft and protruding and I feel as though I’m just slipping. I was supposed to hang with the boyfriend tonight, but I really just don’t want to be around anyone at all. I’m hoping I will feel better tomorrow. I’m trying to make a more conscious effort of keeping track of what I put into my body.

Anywho, this was yesterday.

Nice juicy orange ( I bit into a wedge and nailed my boss in the head with some juice!) and a multi-grain english muff with raspberry preserves and pumpkin butter.

Snack : I’m nuts for nuts. And nuts for always eating out of my desk.

Slunch- I packed some grapes but they went bad so I had to munch on some cherries (which are so sweet they taste like they were dipped in sugar) and a few original Marys Gone Crackers.

Then after work boyfriend called and said to meet him by the lake and we went wild blackberry picking! It was so much fun. So simple and calming. My legs got scratched up, but it was worth it. They taste SO much better than the ones from Mexico 😉

Then for dinner I just made a salad because I haven’t been feeling all too body sexy lately.

Romaine, corn, red pep, pepporcinis, green onion, spinach, radish, pepper, light italian dressing and some leftover tilapia.

I normally am not too fond of eating fish, but this was amazing. Kudos to moms.

Todays eats:

Those fresh blackberries went perfect in my oatmeal this morning. OIAJ! I put labels on my food to make sure my family gets the point!

So delicious…

The usual with almond milk, vanilla yog. water, cinnamon, ezekiel cereal, blueberries & blackberries crofters spread and of course the buttah in the jar. Guaranteed to be licked clean. I don’t know about you, but this next picture gives my tummy a chubby.

I switched it up today and only had one cup of coffee ( I usually have 2- 1 from the pot at work and one from the press), but today I had half a cup of earl grey tea- my favorite. I never knew what Earl Grey was until I took Professor Sudduths class and he would come in every morning raving about it and how he couldn’t function without it. So one day after class I went to the coffee shop outside our building and ordered some. Needless to say I’ve been hooked ever since. I’m pretty sure he didn’t like me because I always came in late, but he gave me one of the greatest gifts I’ve every received; Earl.

For afternoon slunch I had some grapes and a bit of Kashi Hear to Heart cinnamon cereal at work before hitting the gym for 4 miles, some biking and weights!

We were supposed to have shrimp last night but it got postponed until tonight. I made another salad and had a bit of brown rice, and 1 and 3/4 shrimpies. Also had some grilled onions and red pepper mixed in too.

I need more of this in my life/diet.

And these shrimp were grilled to puuuuurrrrfection.

Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day, I mean, at least it’s one day closer to Friday

Go Go Go

Today has just been non-stop. This is the first time I’ve sat down all day and I’m still doing something! Since my mom is gone I have to do all the house duties and take care of my dad and grandmothers. It gets tiring. Work was good, my tummy has been feeling off lately so it took me a good 3 hours to finish breakfast. Plus it was huge! I packed way too many berries. But they were delicious! I had 5 different fruits in 6 hours!

Overnight Oats

  • 1/3c oatmeal, almond milk, water, vanilla yog.
  • cinnamon
  • pinch of chia seed
  • ezekiel cereal
  • sprinkle of ground flax
  • raspberries, blueberries, blackberries
  • BARNEY BUTTER! (I picked up 2 jars yesterday at WF’s)
  • Crofters jam

My bowl was so full!

For a snack I had 2 strawberries, a handful of grapes and some Kashi cinnamon harvest cereal.

Went to the gym, which was rough because I didn’t feel well. Did about 3 miles on the mill and 10 minutes on the bike with a little arm and leg work. Slow and steady.  Then I came home and had a bunch to do. I’ve been wanting to bake, but first I had to clean up the kitchen, do dishes, make my dads lunch, dinner, put food away, bake, then MY dinner, shower, sort laundry and now I’m here!

But! I have been wanting to try these for quite sometime Vegan Black Bean Brownies

I was too lazy to use the food processor, but the recipe was super easy (good for me since I’m not the best cook)

They came out really well. After they cooled I cut myself a little square to taste. They’re super fudgey, my favorite kind. They have a strong banana undertaste, so I might use a bit more sugar instead of banana next time and add some nuts! Otherwise they’re great, you would never know they were black beans! My dad didn’t.

Then I wanted to do something nice for my co-workers in my department. So I made some breakfast muffins for them. They don’t eat too healthy, so I just used a package. They think I’m strange for the way I eat… and that I photograph it all 😉

My mom makes this crumb cake for breakfast sometimes and it’s awesome, so I will indulge, but these muffins are too huge for me! But I did lick the bowl clean.

Let’s just say the house smelled awesome when they came out.

I just picked off a bit of the cinnamon topping off 😉 Don’t tell my coworkers.

Then I finally had time to eat dinner. I just had a leftover spring roll that my mom brought home from another grad party this weekend. It was really good. It was filled with lettuce, some white noodle, shrimp and mint! The mint was such a surprise, but gave it just a little kick to make it more interesting. Only ate 1 half and 2/3 of the other half.

Then just paired it with a side salad for some green-age.

To drink I tried my new Honest T. I’ve never tried any of these before and have seen them on tons of bloggers sites so I picked one up. It was interesting, it initially tasted like juice, but then had a tea aftertaste. But I liked it. I was tiring of water with dinner so I will most likely have some with dinner tomorrow night too.

Now to finish Last Comic Standing while trying to make a meal plan for the week. Then Triple D’s!
